First Golf Game Of 2013 – Castlecove Golf Club, Sydney, Australia

It has come somewhat a tradition in recent years to play a game of golf on New Year’s Day – January 1st. I recall a few years back I played at Roseville Golf Club here in Sydney where I am an International Member given I am only home in Sydney for some four to six weeks. I teed-up in the New Year’s Day stableford competition and duly started the New Year with a birdie – four points thank you very much. However the downside of commencing a round of golf on the very first ...

It began in March 1979 when ‘The Four Founding Fathers’ managed to find their way south of Sydney to rural Bowral for a weekend of fun, frivolity and much drinking. Somehow or another the four aslo found their way to ‘Royal’ Bowral Golf Club for a game of golf. Australian Association Of Golf Writers Annual Dinner – George Begg Afforded Life Membership

The Australian Golf Writers Association (AGWA) annual dinner was held in Sydney last Saturday night with the highlight of the evening being the award of Life Membership to George Begg. George has been a tireless worker for the Association and it was rightfully pointed out at the dinner that had it not been George the AGWA may very well have founded. It was a special night for George with his wife, Sue along with daughters Nicole and Jenny plus their respective husbands David and Tom all making the ...

We were heading to Forster/Tuncurry, twin towns located in the Great Lakes region of New South Wales.  The trip was just overnight and with the goal of playing ...

World Parachuting Championship, Dubai.

World Parachuting Championship I hear you saying? Yes, this is a dedicated golf website but often in the course of reporting on the European and PGA Tour we come across items of interest. Already this year we’ve brought you pics of Janis Joplin’s childhood home, the gravesite of the Big Boppa and, what we feel, is other interesting scenarios we come in contact with during the course of a season. Such was the case in the days following the DP World Tour Championship because no sooner had ...

Full Moon Over Dubai.

It was good to be spend a few days winding down following the season-ending DP World Tour Championship, Dubai. Dutch Delight Golfing In Dubai.

It was with great delight ahead of the recent DP World Tour Championship I joined a Dutch couple playing on the Faldo Course at the Emirates Club in Dubai. Gerard van Wandelen and his wife, Marian were out in Dubai visiting family. During the course of the round I enjoyed informing Gerard and Marian how much I have enjoyed travelling each year to the KLM Open. Tour Miss and myself had resided this year in the lovely town of Zeist and around 15 minutes from Hilversum, but then and in one of those ...
