Schnitzel & Weiss Beer …. The Delights Of BMW International Open Week.
A schnitzel and a glass of Weiss beer is a must when it comes to travelling to Germany for BMW International Open.
In fact, of the two nights I’ve been out to dinner this week it’s been a set menu and there’s no doubt it will be the same when it comes to an evening meal later today following the final round here on the Gut Larcenhof course outside of Cologne.
Saturday night was spent with good friend and colleague, Peter Dixon watching coverage of Columbia defeat Uruguay in the ...

There was the spectacular sight last week with the Danish-built training ship Georg Stage visiting Crail.

However the ships visit to Crail caused much interest among residents and visitors alike.
The ship serves as a training-platform for sailors from Denmark and is owned and operated by the independent foundation Georg Stages Minde (in memory of Georg Stage). The foundation was instituted in 1882 by the ...
Dramatic Cloud Formation and Sunset Over Dusseldorf.
As we were being driven back into Dusseldorf this week we were in awe of a dramatic cloud formation and sunset.
The clouds gave the impression of a large smoke trail rising from the sinking sun.
Anyway, I thought I would share these photographs with our supporters.
Titanic Very Much Remembered In Cobh, Ireland.
A return in 12 years to Cobh again reminded me of the town’s connection with the ill-fated liner – Titantic.
It was April 11th, 1912 at 1.30pm, the Titanic leaves Queenstown (and now named Cobh) and heads across the Atlantic on its maiden voyage to New York.
However just over three days later at 2.30am on April 15th and the world’s most luxurious ocean liner is lying at the bottom of the Atantic Ocean.
There is reminders everywhere in Cobh of the Titanic’s last port of call ...

It was hardly a problem as our final destination was Augusta.
However we were due to pick-up a standard economy rental car in Atlanta – still no problem.
We managed to change the booking to Augusta ...

Every journalist wants to see their name up high as author of either a front page news item or the lead sports story on the back of the newspaper.
However one of my first ‘scoops’ was not necessarily a story I wrote but in fact I found myself the subject of the story.
Allow me to rewind to March 1988.
I am working as the Chief Private Secretary to Ken Booth, M.P and the Treasurer of New South Wales in Australia.
I had spent four years working on the private staff of the Premier of New ...
A Visit To The Home Of NASCAR – Charlotte Motor Speedway.
It was a glorious Saturday morning and what better to take in the sights of Charlotte.
However driving a Chevy Camaro it had to be a visit to the Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The complex features a 1.5 miles (2.4 km) quad over track that hosts NASCAR racing including the prestigious Coca-Cola 60o later this month on Memorial Day weekend and the Sprint All-Star Race, as well as the Bank Of America 500.
The speedway was built in 1959 and is considered the home track for NASCAR with many race teams ...
