Jamieson, who turned 31 at the end of last year, will also contest next week’s Commercial Bank Qatar Master, the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, Maybank Malaysian Open and the new Thailand Classic. “It’s nice to back out on Tour again after having some time off,” he said from the practice range at the ...

Rory McIlroy To Spend Six Days In A Dublin Court Just Two Days After Desert Classic.

Bizarrely, World No. 1 Rory McIlroy is headed for at least six days in the chilly surrounds of a Dublin High Court room just two days after enjoying the warmth and support of competing in next month’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic. Organisers of the Dubai event indicated McIlroy will tee-up where in 1999 he claimed the first of now 16 pro career wins including success in four Majors. It was also in the 2007 Desert Classic where the then 17-year old McIlroy played all four rounds for a first occasion ...

Britain’s Got Golfing Talent – Josh Waters & Mark Brailey.

British golf is clearly in good hands with Josh Waters and Mark Brailey already enjoying a good grip on the professional game. It was pure chance I found my way to the splendid Osprey Point, a 27-hole layout at Boca Raton in Florida, and equally it was a chance meeting with the pair of English-born professionals. I had been all set to play a round of golf by myself on one of the best public golf courses I had seen for some time when the Osprey Point starter pointed out a three-ball already on the ...

‘The Great Escape’ At 36,000 Feet.

It was the strangest scenario relaxing at 36,000 feet on a German airline, heading to Frankfurt in Germany, watching the all-time classic movie – The Great Escape. The 1963 all-star cast movie remains one of my all-time favourites so much so the screen page of my laptop feature a photo of the late Steve McQueen astride his 1962 Triumph Thunderbird motor-cycle. (Note – The motor cycle was modified to look WW 2 however there was no hiding the ‘chunky’ tyres that did not come ...

Meeting Tom Feeney At Lone Pine GC In West Palm Beach.

Maybe it was the ‘Irish’ connection but I had the pleasure of meeting one of the nicest fellows for some time recently. His name is Tom Feeney. Tom was born in Connemara in County Galway on the west coast of Ireland and a part of Ireland that has long been regarded as the real emerald of Ireland. Connemarra is famed for the rugged Twelve Bens mountain range in the north and through lake-rich Roundstone Bog to the golden beaches reaching out into the Atlantic Ocean, and you’ll know ...

Bernie Breaks 70, Net 53 & A Blistering 46 Stableford Points.

The golfing New Year began in blistering style with your editor breaking 70 for a very first occasion and on a non par three layout with a round of 68 on the Lone Pine Golf Club course in West Palm Beach. That translated a net score of a staggering 53 and also an incredible 46 points. All but for the two opening holes the round was played in the company of Gary Scott, who works as a Commercial Producer for the local WPTV News Channel 5 and a FOX affiliate station. Gary will be covering next month’s ...

Aberdour Golf Club – A Scottish Golfing Treat That’s Anything But Dour!

It is never polite to be late arriving on the first tee. However it was downright embarrassing when I upstaged my host and fellow guests in walking off the opening hole a few minutes later having sank an outrageous very long putt for birdie. Well, that was the scenario when I joined three of Scotland’s leading golf correspondents – Martin Dempster (The Scotsman), Euan McLean (Daily Record)  and Nick Rodger (Scottish Herald) – last October at the Aberdour Golf Club. Martin is a ...
