Shane Lowry Delighted To Shoot Valero Texas Open 74 Opener.
He had been awake more than 12 hours earlier when Shane Lowry walked into the scorer’s hut at 7.15pm local time delighted to have shot a two over par 74 on a testing first day of the Valero Texas Open.
It left the Carton House pro seven shots behind American Charley Hoffman who has shed his unruly-looking golden locks for a standard short-back-and-sides haircut and a one stroke lead over Australia’s Aaron Baddeley.
Phil Mickelson, despite breaking the shaft of his 8-iron at the 12th hole, ...
Scot Marc Warren Feels Right At Home In Windy Alamo City.
Marc Warren’s Masters invitation remained in sight after an Alamo like struggle on the opening day of the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio.

Callaway Mobile Workshop Leaves San Antonio Headed For Houston.
Like the line ‘Pack it up and tear it down … They’ll set it up in another town’ from the famed Jackson Browne song ‘Load Out’, so the equipment trucks working the PGA Tour were all packed up and headed from the Valero Texas Open to next week’s Tour stop – the Shell Houston Open.
For the giant state-of-the-art Callaway truck it was a tight squeeze down the pathway along side of the 18th fairway at TPC San Antonio before the truck eventually found its ...

McDowell Has No Augusta Fears Despite Withdrawing From Valero Texas Open.
Graeme McDowell insists he has no fears heading to next fortnight’s Masters, and in fact will now enter next week’s Shell Houston Open after a lower left ankle injury forced him to withdraw after nine holes of today’s starting Valero Texas Open.
McDowell was five over par at the time when he advised playing partners Dustin Johnson and Jim Furyk he could no longer continue in the $US 6.3m event being played in bright but windy conditions on the TPC San Antonio course.
The former ...
Marc Warren Concentrating On The Boots Rather Than The Jacket.
Marc Warren is more focused on winning a pair of Texas cowboy boots this week than thoughts of next fortnight’s Masters and the winner’s reward of an Augusta National green jacket.
The cowboy boots is an additional prize presented to the 2015 Valero Texas Open champion being held on the Greg Norman designed TPC San Antonio course in the Lone Star State.
The Texas event also is another first in Warren’s career and with the Glaswegian, who is set to turn 34 on April 1st, competing in his ...
Shane Lowry Hoping The Valero Texas Open Cowboy Boots Will Fit.
Shane Lowry will be hoping the added Valero Texas Open prize this week of a pair cowboy boots will fit better than his golf shoes.
Lowry was sporting a new pair of golf shoes during a practice round ahead of this week’s $US 6.2m event but admitting the shoes were a little too big for the Carton House pro.
However any footwear discomfort was not evident with Lowry’s game looking in great shape and in this his final event before he makes his Masters debut next fortnight at Augusta National.
