Campbelltown – Scottish Pipe Bands & Great Kintyre Golf.
In between travelling for a first time to the island of Arran and making the journey to the Outer Hebrides we made a visit to Campbelltown.
It’s a Scottish town down towards the Mull of Kintyre and where we have travelled before and on this latest occasion we stopped over in August 2022 Scottish golfing visit.
Campbeltown is situated on the stunning peninsula of Kintyre, and the largest towns in Argyll. It’s a long drive from the main highway leading from Glasgow to the A-83 turnoff ...
Barra Island Golf Club – A Second Visit Was Truly Double The Pleasure
It was 2012 when I first visited the remote Isle of Barra golf course in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.
Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to return to the islands in 2015, 2016, 2019 and last year in August 2022, and when making a third visit to Barra.
Five visits .. Now is that not a strong recommendation?
The Isle of Barra course lays claim to the most westerly golf course in the UK. You can’t go any further west or you would arrive on the shores of Canada.
The golf course is ...
Knox Declares Pro Golf Landscape ‘Bit of a Joke’ But Backs Monahan & Praises McIlroy.
Scotland’s Russell Knox has labelled the present landscape the men’s pro golf a ‘bit of joke’ following on the latest news Joh Rahm has formally signed with LIV Golf.
Formal confirmation of Rahm’s reputed £550m deal is a massive boost for the Saudi-back league and now sees three of the last five major winners playing the rival LIV tour.
As well, we’ve had two of Rahm’s Rome Ryder Cup winning team-mates, firstly in Rory McIlroy sounding off at the DP World Tour that needs ...
Rose: ‘Jon’s (Rahm) A Huge Coup For LIV, Huge Blow For PGA Tour’.
Justin Rose could not have put in more bluntly declaring: “Jon’s a huge coup for LIV, a big blow for the PGA Tour”.
Rose was speaking amid almost certain assurance late afternoon US Eastern time that double major winning Jon Rahm has officially signed with LIV Golf.
There has been rumours for months the super Spaniard would be leaving to join good friend and fellow Masters winner Sergio Garcia at LIV, and the news is all but official.
The deal is believed to be worth around $560m ...
Victor Dubuisson Retires – The French Golfer I Met Many Times Travelling Back To Scotland
I guess it comes as a surprise that a professional golfer at the ‘young’ age of 33-years, and has competed at the game’s highest level, should announce his retirement.
This is the news appearing in the leading French newspaper L’Equipe with the 33-year-old Victor Dubuisson indicating he is stepping down from formal competition.
It can’t be because Dubuisson may be akin to Tiger Woods and fighting what could also be a career-threatening injury.
No, the French newspaper ...
Forrest Headed Home From ‘Down Under’ On A Year-Ending High
Scotland’s Grant Forrest was jetting back from sunny ‘Down Under’ Australia to wintery Scotland delighted with his effort in the last round of the year, and a best career pre-Christmas start to a new DP World Tour wraparound season.
Forrest, 30, jetted out of closeby Sydney Airport with a closing 68 to secure a three-way share of fourth at the Australian Open on the host Australian Club course.
The Craigielaw golfer grabbed three birdies to be tied with Aussie Adam Scott and England’s ...
Rahm’s Signing With LIV Golf ‘Could Change Everthing’.
There’s no getting away from on-going rumours that double major winning Jon Rahm is going to sign with LIV Golf.
Reports say Rahm is expected to reach a whopping $600m deal with LIV that also will include a $300 million signing bonus while the champion Spaniard would have team equity and be named one of the LIV team captains.
Of course, it’s a golfing understatement to say that Rahm’s signing with LIV would be one of biggest coups, and also biggest shocks, if he accepts the record ...
