Darren Clarke was the last player to register for this year’s Masters and a niggling groin injury could see the reigning British Open champion the first to bow out of the 2012 Masters. For a third time in his Masters career Padraig Harrington has won the Par 3 Contest at Augusta National and with it the stigma that no one has ever then gone to win the Masters the same year. Augusta National Chairman Billy Payne indicated while ‘evaluating’ Ernie Els’ claim for a ‘Special Invitation’ the club ruled against the South African appearing in the 2012 Masters.
