Sandy Lyle Afforded Scottish Open Invitation – 21st Appearance.
While Luke Donald confirmed he will defend his Scottish Open, the European Tour has afforded Sandy Lyle an invitation to tee-up at Castle Stuart.
Tour CEO, George O’Grady informed Lyle during his recent World Golf Hall of Fame indoctrination of the invitation.
It will be Lyle’s 21st Scottish Open showing since 1990 but with the doulbe Major Champion is looking to celebrate the occasion by ending a run of five missed cuts in his last five appearances in the event.

Defending champion Ian Poulter and past U.S. Open winner Graeme McDowell are through to the last 16 no matter the outcome of their second round robin matches in the Volvo World Match-Play Championship in Spain.
Poulter is assured a place in tomorrow’s start to the knock-out stage of the Euro 2.75m event after fellow Englishman Tom Lewis defeated Australia’s John Senden 1 up this morning on the Finca Cortesin course.

Thieves who broke into the United States Golf Association (USGA) museum will have little chance of hocking the stolen U.S. Amateur trophy.

Clarke Rules Out Ryder Cup Return
Newly-married Darren Clarke has had little to celebrate so much so the current Open Champion has all but ruled out returning later this year to the Ryder Cup.
Clarke is one of eight ‘seeds’ in today’s commencing Volvo World Match-Play Championship but won’t play a first match to tomorrow (FRI) when he faces Robert Rock.

Future Of Czech Open Doubtful Says Tour.
The European Tour fears losing a third event from this year’s schedule when it meets with the Czech Open course owner today in London.
Keith Waters, Director of International Policy with the European Tour, are meeting with Stanislav Pros, owner of the Prosper Golf Resort at Celadna.
The Czech Open was set to be contested from August 16 – 19 but is on the 2012 Race to Dubai schedule as ‘TBC’.
