Alan Dunbar scored a first over the likes of Major Champions Rory McIlroy, Graeme McDowell and Darren Clarke in capturing the 117th British Amateur Championship at Royal Troon.
Dunbar, 23 defeated Austrian teenager Matthias Schwab by one hole to become the third Northern Irish winner after Michael Hoey in 2001 and Garth McGimpsey in 1985.

Paul McGinley finds himself being drawn in the last group out in Monday’s 36-hole Open Championship qualifier at Sunningdale in Surrey.

Sweden’s Joel Sjoholm has no trouble dealing with albatrosses, eagles and birdies but he had his hands full dealing with a determined swan on day three of the BMW International Open in Cologne.
