Rory McIlroy Introduces New Flame To Pro Tournament Golf

He has visited her on a number of occasions ahead of tournaments so it seemed only appropriate she should now visit him.

Rory McIlroy and Caroline Wozinacki are the hottest couple in world sport.

He’s the reigning U.S. Open champion and she’s the current Womens Tennis World No. 1.

It came as a surprise to see the Danish tennis ace in Shanghai but when it all boils down they’re no different to any young 20-year olds.

Well, except for the fact the pair travel the world by private jet, stay in the luxury of five-star hotels and enjor no concern whatsoever with regards who picks up the tab.

However McIlroy is focussed on monetary gain this week and to be precise the sum of Euro 1,302,823 as that’s the difference between he and current Race to Dubai leader, Luke Donald.

Donald has opted not to contest this week’s $US 7m WGC  – HSBC Champions as his wife, Diane is expecting the couple’s second child.

So while Donald is at home in the Windy City, McIlroy will look to whip a storm in Shanghai and take a Euro 842, 217 bite out of Donald’s lead with victory in the Chinese financial  capital.

“I am 1.3 million euros behind Luke,” said McIlroy.

“I’ve still have got three big events coming up. I’ve got this week, the Hong Kong Open and the Dubai World Championship.

“So three more chances to really try to cut into his lead.

“With Luke not being here this week because his wife is giving birth to their second child, I feel like I have got a chance.

“It would be fantastic to get another win, the second in two weeks and cut into that lead. It would be fantastic if I could get a litter closer to him.

“And the good thing also is that I got a lot of confidence from last week as that win was coming for a long time.”

But while McIlroy easily handled questions on cutting into Donald’s Race to Dubai lead he was well off the pace when it came to tackling questions on Wozinacki.

It will be the first occasion the Danish-born tennis ace has been up close to McIlroy in a golf tournament.

But while rain dampened the enthusiasm of the competitors it didn’t spoil the enthusiasm of one local journalist who quizzed the World No. 3 if he had plans of marrying Wozinacki.

“It’s great to have Caroline here but this is the first time she’s at a golf tournament but if the weather keeps going like this, it might be the last one she is at as well,” he said.

However McIlroy was a lot more confident when it came to unseating Donald and winning the Race to Dubai title for a first time.

“I have not had a good a season as Luke because he has been the most consistent golfer in the world for probably the best part of 18 months,” said McIlroy.

“But if I can give it my all and really give it a good go for the next few weeks and even just run him close, I think that would be a good achievement in itself.”
