Luke Donald … “I Can Sympathise With Tiger Woods”.

Tiger Woods is not the only player contesting this week’s Wyndham Championship for a first occasion in their playing career.

England’s Luke Donald is making his debut in Greensboro and like Woods he needs a good showing this week if he is to qualify for the up-coming FedeEx Cup Play-Off Series.

The Chicago-based Brit is right on the cusp for making the Play-Offs in 124th place and needing to at least make the cut this week on the Sedgefield Country Club course.

“This is an old school golf course, not overly long and with people telling me it would suit my game, and I can see that was said to me,” he said.

However Donald, and the current World No. 65, was asked his reaction to Woods now being ranked 284th on the World Rankings.

“It is quite easy to fall down the rankings and I can vouch for that even though I haven’t dropped as far as Tiger now has,” said Donald.

“But then the game of golf is hard and you have one of the greatest playAers of my generation and struggling to play this game.

“For 10 years Tiger was unstoppable, unbeatable and it just shows how fickle this game is, and how many ebbs and flows there is in this sport.

“I don’t think anyone would have thought this, especially he’s 30th, 40th at the beginning of the year, and it just shows how hard this game is.”

Donald is coming off sharing 43rd place in last week’s PGA  Championship and in what was his 12th appearance in the season-ending major.

And after missing the cut in the Masters and then finished T58th at the U.S. Open and then a credible 12th at St. Andrews Donald was asked what report card would he give himself in the 2015 Majors.

“I’ve been in line with my season, but just not quite there so I would probably give myself a B minus or a C”.
