Padraig Harrington ‘Shocked’ At Quail Hollow’s Green Mile.

It was earlier this year triple Major winning Padraig Harrington emerged victorious from the Bear Trap to capture a second Honda Classic title.

And since then there has been PGA Tour events boasting the ‘Blue Monster’, ‘The Snake Pit’ and more recently he returned to The Masters to experience ‘Amen Corner’.

This week at the Wells Fargo Championship it’s The Green Mile.

It is the last three holes on the Quail Hollow course – the par 4 16th, the par 3 17th and the par 4 18th.

Harrington and making his eighth start in the $US 7.1m event and with a best finish being T7th in 2010 behind McIlroy.

And after the frustration of last week’s TPC Sawgrass course Harrington is staring at a ‘vastly different challenge’ this week.

“This week is a vastly different challenge than last week with different grass tee to green and a much longer golf course,” he said.

“The course is a lot more open and even though you might hit into trees you will see a lot more recovery this week, and hopefully not as many disasters this week as we saw at the Players.

“But then in saying that the last three holes, ‘The Green Mile’, are the toughest on the PGA Tour and I’m shocked at that.”

In fact, there is T-shirts on sale in the Quail Hollow Merchandise Tent highlighting ‘The Green Mile’ – the Par four 16th, Par three 17th and Par 4 18th with the caption:  “2003 – 2014. Holes 1-15 937-under par.  Holes 16 – 18 5651-over par.”
