Marc Warren Moves To OGWR Career High & One Place Outside Of Masters Invitation.

Scotland’s Marc Warren has moved to an Official Golf World Ranking (OGWR) high in picking up three places to move to No. 51 and just one place outside of qualifying automatically for next month’s Masters after a superb four rounds on debut in the WGC – Cadillac Championship.

Warren shot a final round 69 to finish in a share of 17th place in his first appearance in the event won by popular American Dustin Johnson with a nine under par tally at Trump Doral.

Waiting for the Scot when he walked from the course was wife Laura and young son Archie who was playing with a  plastic club and few plastic golf balls and certainly kelp his mother on her toes waiting for Warren to make his way to the scorer’s room.

Warren had arrived in Miami knowing a good showing would move him up the World Rankings from his No. 54 ranking/

However one wonders now had Warren birdied the last, after birdies at 16 and 17, he may very well have avoided teeing-up on Monday afternoon Florida time at the Southern Hills Plantation course in Tampa Bay where  he is looking to qualify for Thursday’s starting $5.9m Valspar Championship.

Warren, and in a sign of ever-increasing maturity, accepted the result and with his young family was happily heading west along the famed ‘Alligator Alley’ roadway to Florida’s west shoreline.

“It’s the first time in about five years since I came over here to the States and stayed with Scott Jamieson, who lives up at Jacksonville, that both he and competed in a Monday qualifier for the Honda Classic,” said Warren.

“Of course, I haven’t seen the golf course nor has my caddy Ken but I’m not teeing up to around 2pm tomorrow afternoon that at least gives my a bit of a sleep-in.

“And after playing the final two rounds here at Doral in three under par I’m quietly confident I can take that form into the Monday qualifier.”
