A controversy has erupted on Twitter over Rory McIlroy’s missing golf clubs.
Twitter users have used the social networking site to single out United Airlines claiming ‘preferential treatment’ after McIlroy’s clubs went missing from North Carolina via Newak, New Jersey and then onto Dublin.
McIlroy used Twitter to question the airline about the whereabouts of his clubs he needs to compete in this week’s Irish Open at Fota Island.
Two hours later United Airlines reached out to McIlroy on Twitter saying:
-
Follow @McIlroyRory We understand how important your clubs are to you. Please follow and DM us you bag reference ID. We’d like to follow up. ^JH
Less than 30 minutes later he was again contacted by United Airlines advising his clubs will be delivered to the Fota Island Resort in Cork, Ireland on Wednesday, just in time for the tournament.
Follow @McIlroyRory We have good news. Your clubs will be in tomorrow and we’ll deliver them to the tournament for you. ^JH
Here is a couple of irate Twitters:-
