Vilamoura Breaking News – Howorth’s Heroes 4 Points Clear As Bernie Bolts To Victory.

On a day when the US Open winning pair of Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose along with European No. 1 Henrik Stenson crashed out of the WGC – Accenture Match-Play Championship it was ‘Howorth’s Heroes’ storming four points clear of their rivals in Vilamoura.

For a second day running John Howorth’s mighty men turned the table on Frank Donnelly’s collection of foes winning 3 & 1 under grey skies on Oceanico Millennium Course at Vilamoura,

It means John’s side heads into day three on the Portugal Masters championship Oceanico Victoria course leading 6 points to 2 in the five-match challenge.

Biggest win of the day was the 8 & 6 hammering Richard ‘Stitch’ Guthrie and Bernie handed out to Davy Patterson and his partner Alan Reid.

And it was double success for Bernie scooping the individual honours with 34 Stableford points and four better than ‘Stitch’.

Special thanks to Oceanico for the gift of a Millennium polo shirt and again to Callaway for the ball and hat prizes.

Highlight of day 3 will be a session Friday morning before we tee off on the Oceanico Victoria course range with Portuguese No. 1 ranked player Ricardo Santos.

Here under is a selection of snaps for day two.
