Pablo Larrazabal Banks Abu Dhabi HSBC Title As McIlroy & Mickelson Left Ruiing Penalities

Spain’s Pablo Larrazabal upstaged his more-fancied rivals to shoot a final round final round 67 to end a near three-year winless drought to capture the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Larrazabal won by one shot with a 14-under par total on the National Course in the UAE capital.

Rory McIlroy, who had incurred a two-stroke penalty a day earlier, shot a last round 68 to finish with a share of second place at 13-under par and tied with American Phil Mickelson (69).

Mickelson was left counting the costs of incurring a shot penalty after a ‘double hit’ in playing from bushes at the 13thhole of the National course.

The reigning British Open, who was leading at the time, walked off the hole with a triple bogey ‘7’.
