Six non-Americans are among the leading 25 players on the Web.com Tour to earn full 2014 PGA Tour membership.
The first of the 25 of 50 available PGA TOUR membership cards for the 2013-14 season were assured at the Web.com Tour’s final Regular Season event, the Cox Classic presented by Lexus of Omaha.
Australia’s Bronson La Cassie secured the event to make it three wins for ‘Down Under’ born players over the weekend headed by new World No. 2 Adam Scott who captured the Barclays Championship while fellow Queenslander Brad Kennedy won a second event on the Japan Tour.
The other non-Americans to earn 2014 PGA Tour cards off the Web.com Tour include Chile’s Brendan Alvardo, Sweden’s Daniel Chopra, the New Zealand duo of Tim Wilkinson and Danny Lee along with Argentina’s Miguel Angel Carballo.
American Michael Putnam finished the leading money winner with his reward is fully exempt status for the upcoming PGA TOUR season and an invitation to THE PLAYERS Championship next May.
Putnam earned $450,184. Ben Martin was No. 2 with $399,769.
The top 25 on the Web.com Tour money list secured their PGA TOUR playing privileges.
Of course, changes to the PGA Tour means no more qualifying school leaving virtually the only door open for those ‘not so elite’ players is via the secondary Web.com Tour.
