It is often very rare for Tiger Woods to remain after the formal part of any post victory interview but he did after his WGC – Bridgestone Invitational success to answer a handfull of questions from just a few Tour journalists who remained after the microphones were turned off.
And the main topic of conversation was Tiger Woods’ young four-year old son, Charlie.
Woods had revealed in the formal part of the interview that it had been the first time Charlie was present for one of his victories.
However while Woods signed a bunch full of WGC – Bridgestone commemorative flags, he also tackled some questions on his son and revealing he will not push him into golf despite his only son already showing a passion for the ancient game.

“Charlie likes playing golfer, he likes going out there and giving it a hit,” said Woods.
“He likes anything where there is contact with a bat and ball or any hand/eye sport.
“Yeah but again but it’s like what my dad did and that’s keep it fun. Go out there, no lessons, and just have fun.
“He just emulates what I do. I would go and hit balls and it goes kind of quite for a while and then the next thing I would know and he’s looking over my shoulder and he’s kind of watching and just kind of eyeing me.
“Then I’ll hit and he’ll hit and his swing starts mimicking what I am doing. That’s how I learned the game and my dad just kept it so light, fun and competitive and I just fell in love with it.
“So yes, it would be cool but I am not going to be pushing him and if he wants to do it, so be it. If he wants to go and play another sport then that would be great too.
“For me, I’ve always gravitated back to golf. I played baseball, ran track, ran cross country but always came back to golf.”
However while young Charlie is already emulating his father Woods was asked if his son might be a Rickie Fowler fan.
Woods began laughing and declaring: “My kid is not going to wear a flat bill (cap).”
But then does Charlie do a fist pump when he makes a putt?
“He has done that and he’s kind of cute when he does.
And does he have a full set of cut down clubs?
“No, not a full set. He’s still only four.”
It was a special moment when Woods was spotted walking Charlie from the players car park to the clubhouse and then to hear Woods talk about his young son was also quite special.
