Supercaddy John ‘Ronnie’ Roberts Stops Sofia With Lion-Hearted Victory Display.

Supercaddy John ‘Ronnie’ Roberts has arrived in Bulgaria ahead of this week’s Volvo World Match-Play Championship quietly confident of helping steer Australia’s Brett Rumford to a third straight Race to Dubai success.

‘Ronnie’ touched down in the Bulagrian capital of Sofia for a few hours stopover ahead of travelling later tonight (Sun) to the Black Sea city of Varna, and the third largest city in Bulgaria.he Ballantine’s Championship in South Korea and the Volvo China Open.

In scenes similiar to a visiting Head of State, ‘Ronnie’ in his five-hour stopover had flags and caddy bibs hanging from the window and balcony of the luxiourous Bulgarian hotel.

Victory in the Ballantine’s secured Rumford a place in this week’s elite Volvo World Match-Play field while victory a week later  sent Rumford to 76th on the World Rankings and the assurance of contesting a first-ever PAnd no sooner had ‘Ronnie’ made his way to Sofia’s Lion Hotel for a few hours rest and local traffic was brought to a near standstill with the display of flags and caddy bibs from Rumford’s recent run of successes – PGA Championship.

And Rumford will almost certainly be afforded a tee time at Muirfield and the 142nd Open Championship as the Perth-born player currently heads the Race to Dubai and will qualify off a mini-money list ending after next week’s BMW PGA Championship.

But of more importance, hereunder is a selection of snaps of ‘Ronnie’ proudly looking out from the Lion Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria and a shot from inside the hotel room.
