McGrane In Need Of A Volume Control Switch In Doha.

There was no chance of not noticing Ireland’s Damien McGrane on the opening day of the Commercial Bank Qatar Masters.

While McGrane managed to shoot his best first round score in Doha in 10 appearances on the only golf course in the Qatar- capital, the quitely-spoken Irishman could have done with a volume control switcch.

McGrane, who has only broken 70 once in first rounds in the Qatar capital was among a number of TaylorMade sponsored players wearing yellow on day one of the event.

Wearing a yellow cap, shirt and shoes is all to do with an Adidaas promotion for a new line of golf shoes soon to be released by Adidas.

McGrane’s four under par 68 is his best-ever start in Doha and one fewer than a 69 he shot on day one in 2009 when he secured his best finish of fourth.

The former Volvo China Open champion heads into round two trailing three shots behind Portugal’s Ricardo Santos.

Santos was last year named ‘Rookie of the Year’ and on back of shooting a final round 63 to clinch the Madeira Islands Open and a first Race to Dubai success.

And Santos displayed his enormour talent with the Villamoura golfing ace having travelled to Doha after finishing  fourth last week in Abu Dhabi.
