Defending event champion Nicolas Colsaerts confessed he will have to avoid the local nightclub scene in welcoming the very historic news the Volvo World Match-Play Championship will be staged next year in Bulgaria.
It will be the first time a European Tour event will be held in Bulgaria and to be staged from 16thto 19th May, 2013 at the stunning Thracian Cliffs course on the Black Sea shoreline at Kavama.

The ‘Pebble Beach of Bulgaria’ – the stunning Thracian Cliffs course and venue for the 2013 Volvo World Match-Play Championship.
The staging of a first Race to Dubai tournament in Bulgaria comes just a fortnight after it was also announced Turkey would join the 2013 European Tour schedule for a first time with the staging of the inaugural $7m Turkish Open from November 7th to 10th along the Mediterrean shoreline at Antalya.Colsaerts victory over Graeme McDowell in this year’s event in Spain lifted the big-hitting Brussels-born golfer into Ryder Cup selection before being eventaully afforded a ‘wildcard’ pick.
“It’s going to be pretty cool as I’ve never been to Bulgaria before,” said Colsaets after shooting a 69 on day one of the BMW Masters in Shanghai.
“But then I do know some people who have actually been to the place and the course looks fantastic. It’s a Gary Player design, so when you get a piece of land like that it’s no surprise that he’s done something extraordinary.
“Of course, Finca in Spain where I won this year has been dear to me, but then this is also the second time I have won a Tour event and it’s moved for the following year.
“I won the Volvo China Open and it moved for this year and now the Volvo Match-Play is moving from Spain to Bulgaria so I haven’t really defended a title on the course I won the year before.
“So I’m curious to see Bulgaria even though it means I’ll probably have to stay out of the nightlife that week (smiling).”
