Struggling Tiger Woods Handed Shock Afternoon Fourball Match

Struggling Tiger Woods has been handed an afternoon Fourball match-up despite a deplorable display on the opening day of the 39th Ryder Cup.

Woods saw parts of the Medinah course this morning not even mentioned on the stroke saver book bumbling his way about the Chicago layout and looking more akin to a weekend amateur than a 14-time Major Champion.

Woods had the spectators scrambling for cover right from his opening tee shot.

And despite he and Steve Stricker going down to the all-England duo of Justin Rose and Ian Poulter the USA Team captain, Davis Love 111 has decided to again send out the deplorably performing Woods in the final group on day one.

The Fourball matches for the afternoon are as follows:

Scotland’s Paul Lawrie & Sweden’s Peter Hanson -v- Bubba Watson & Webb Simpson.

Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy & Graeme McDowell -v- Phil Mickelson & Keegan Bradley.

England’s Justin Rose & Germany’s Martin Kaymer -v- Dustin Johnson & Matt Kuchar.

England’s Lee Westwood & Belgium’s Nicolas Colsaerts -v- Tiger Woods & Steve Stricker.

It will mean by the end of the first day all 12 players from both sides will have teed-up and this in stark contrast to the hapless and controversial captaincy of 1999 European Team leader, Mark James.
