Westwood’s Worst European Tour Score In 10 Years.

Lee Westwood was left reeling on day three of the WGC – Bridgestone Invitational after posting his worst European Tour score in 10 years.

The current World No. 4 posted a horror 11-over par 81 to crash to a similar over par tally in the $US 8.5m event.

Westwood commenced his day at level par but dropped seven shots in his first seven holes before his only birdie at the eighth hole.

His score matched a similar 81 Westwood carded on day three of the 2002 season ending Volvo Masters.

Months earlier, Westwood had shot an 81 on the first day of the 2001 Great North Open won by his brother-in-law Andrew Coltart.

It is also his poorest round on the PGA Tour since signing for an 80 on day three of the 2005 Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

Westwood, who captured the recent Nordea Masters in Sweden, will commence the final round of the $US 8.5m Bridgestone Invitational in 70th place in the now 76-player field.

Because of expected storms on day four, organisers are sending out the players out between 8am and 10am local time.

Westwood finds himself in the company of fellow Brits Robert Rock, who is at 12-over, and Northern Ireland’s Michael Hoey, who will commence his fourth day on 13-over par.
