Matt Fitzpatrick delivered a class showing in capturing the FedEx Open De France championship on the outskirts of Versailles.
The World No. 4 ranked Fitzpatrick also collected a third ‘individual’ victory this season in posting a closing round of a one-under 70 and winning by a comfortable three shots with a 20-under-par tally on the host Le National course.
The win is Fitzpatrick’s 16th of his career when considering he teamed with young brother, Alex to also capture this year’s Zurich Classic of New Orleans though it’s a 15th success on his own.

Fitzpatrick headed into the final round leading by a comfortable five shots and despite a dozen straight pars that saw his lead cut to just two, tne 32-year-old Englishman birdied both the 13th and 15th holes to move five clear ahead of just a second bogey of his four rounds and that being at the 72nd hole.
Spain’s Angel Hidalgo signed for a second straight 67 to finish second on 17-under and with four players, including the French duo of Matthew Pavon (64) and Tom Vaillant (70) shaing third on 15-under.
Though it was very much Fitzpatrick’s week winning also for a fifth occasion on the European continent.
“Delighted to get it over the line, it was definitely a battle today,” said Fitzpatrick,
“I didn’t have my best stuff for the first 12 holes and then managed to find some of my best stuff…
“It’s right up there, just felt fantastic with the short stuff today in particular.
“In a way I was quite lucky, I left myself in some nice spots where you can still get up and down from, but I fully took advantage of that and did really well.”
Next up for Fitzpatrick is the 25th hosting of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, a tournament he captured in 2023 and also in teaming with his mother, Sue to become the first mother-and-son duo to win both the individual and team pro-am titles at the Home of Golf.
