World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler only has to finish 13th and Rory McIlroy a little higher as runner-up in today’s closing round of the Tour Championship to surpass Tiger Woods in career PGA Tour prizemoney.
That’s the scenario heading to the last day in the final tournament of the official 2026 PGA Tour schedule.
Tiger has PGA Tour career earnings of just shy of $120.1m since making his professional debut on the PGA Tour 30-years ago this week at the 1996 Greater Milwaukee Open.
TW accumulated this enormous sum helped by a record-equallying 82 Tour victories.

Scheffler is some $600,000 of betteringTiger’s fortune though in stark contrast having captured just 21 PGA Tour sanctioned wins, and would go past Woods should he finish 13th or higher later today at the East Lake course in Georgia.
Scheffler heads into day four of the massive $40m event sharing third place at 12-under and assured of earning more than $1m by finishing top eight.
McIlroy’s scenario a little more taxing as the 45-time PGA Tour winner trails his good friend Tiger by $4.5m and has end his PGA Tour season first or second.
The six-time major champion is tied seventh at 10-under and five adrift of Viktor Hovland, who leads the field by a shot at 15-under.

Viktor Hovland leads Ryan Gerard by one shot entering the final round of the Tour Championship. Hovland won the FedExCup finale in 2023; Gerard is making his debut.
Three years ago, Hovland earned $18 million in bonus money for his triumph at East Lake. The event now offers an official $40 million purse with $10 million going to the winner. Of course, prizemoney to be adjusted in cast of ties.
