Viktor Hovland has brilliantly placed himself in position to capture a second PGA Tour season-ending Tour Championship title in three years being tiecd for the lead at 10-under heading to the weekend rounds at the East Lake course in Georgia.
Hovland posted a four-under par 66 to be tied with American Ryan Gerard with Colin Morikawa and Chris Gotterup sharing third on 9-under.
Hovland posted six birdies and two bogeys on a day mourned by the passing of Norway’s beloved King Harald V.
The now Oklahoma-based Hovland has won eight times on the PGA Tour including his stunning five stroke Tour Championship success in 2023 while he’s looking for a second ‘W’ of 2026 after humbling World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler near two months ago a play-off to capture the Travelers Championship.

However the game has not been all that kind for the soon-to-be 29-year-old, and his Aussie-born caddy Shay Knight, who sat out the weekend rounds in the closing three majors of 2026.
And he was asked post his East Lake second round if is hard chasing perfection.
“You can say you’re chasing perfection, but you’ll never get there,” he said.
“But it’s not so much that I’m chasing perfection, it’s just I’m chasing what I’ve done for most of my career. I know how good it is, and I know that statistically it’s not the same. I can feel it’s not the same. It doesn’t look the same. It doesn’t produce the same numbers. So it’s not the same.
“It’s not like I’m being unreasonable and confabulating things, but I know there’s always a solution, and I’m trying to resolve the problems that I have and get back to a position to where I can play like this week in, week out. That’s the goal”.
