Scottie Scheffler

  • Two-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open (2022, 2023) is making his seventh career appearance in the event
    • In six previous WM Phoenix Open starts, owns four top-10s including his two titles
    • 2022 WM Phoenix Open marked his first career PGA TOUR title (defeated Patrick Cantlay in a playoff)
  • Won his first start of the 2026 PGA TOUR season at The American Express, marking his 20th career PGA TOUR title
    • Became the 40th player to reach 20 career wins and the first since Rory McIlroy reached the milestone in 2021
    • 20th win came in his 151st start on TOUR, marking the second-fewest starts to reach 20 wins (Tiger Woods/95)
  • Seeks to win three consecutive starts on TOUR for the first time in his career (Procore Championship, The American Express); last player to win three consecutive starts on TOUR: Dustin Johnson (2017 Genesis Invitational, 2017 WGC-Mexico Championship, 2017 WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play)

Brooks Koepka

  • Two-time winner of the WM Phoenix Open (2015, 2021), having claimed his first career PGA TOUR title in 2015
  • Owns three top-10s and five made cuts in five prior appearances in the WM Phoenix Open (2015/Won, 2016/T41, 2017/T42, 2021/Won, 2022/T3)
  • Of his 20 career rounds at TPC Scottsdale, has seven rounds of 66 or better (best: 64/R3/2015)
  • Nine-time PGA TOUR winner and five-time major champion makes his 188th PGA TOUR start
  • Finished T56 in last week’s Farmers Insurance Open, his first start since re-joining the PGA TOUR through the Returning Member Program
  • The Returning Member Program allows players who have achieved levels of elite performance-based criteria an alternative path back to the PGA TOUR. Important eligibility notes on Koepka’s return:
    • Eligible for THE PLAYERS Championship, Full-Field and Additional Events utilizing the remaining portion of his multi-season winner’s exemption (through 2028 via his 2023 PGA Championship victory)
    • Fields will be expanded for any event he plays in 2026 so to not take a spot away from a TOUR member
    • Must play his way into Signature Events via the Aon Next 10, Aon Swing 5, Top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking or by winning a tournament (ineligible to receive sponsor exemptions)
    • Eligible to earn FedExCup points and qualify for the FedExCup Playoffs, but will be added to the field and will not impact another player’s eligibility
    • Ineligible to earn FedExCup Bonus Money in 2026, but is eligible to receive prize money at the TOUR Championship ($40 million purse) should he qualify

Viktor Hovland

  • Seven-time PGA TOUR winner making his first start of the 2026 season
  • Making his fourth career appearance in the WM Phoenix Open (2020/MC, 2022/MC, 2023/T42)
  • In 18 starts last season, recorded three top-10 finishes, highlighted by a win at the Valspar Championship
  • Finished No. 12 in the 2025 FedExCup standings after advancing to the TOUR Championship for the sixth consecutive year

Sahith Theegala

  • Enters this week coming off back-to-back top-10 finishes (T8/American Express, T7/Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Making fifth career appearance in the WM Phoenix Open where he owns a pair of top-five finishes (T3/2022, 5th/2024)
  • Finished 2025 at No. 146 in the FedExCup Fall standings after missing multiple events due to injury
  • Seeking his second career PGA TOUR title and first since the 2023 Procore Championship

WM Phoenix Open notes

  • As part of his return to the PGA TOUR via the Returning Member Program, Brooks Koepka was added to the field (121) so not to take a spot from a current TOUR member. To round out threesomes, the field was officially expanded to 123 as of Monday at noon MT, with the first two alternates at that time – Pontus Nyholm and A.J. Ewart – added to the field.
  • The field features:
    • 32 of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Ranking, highlighted by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler
    • Seven past champions: Nick Taylor (2024), Scottie Scheffler (2023, 2022), Brooks Koepka (2015, 2021), Webb Simpson (2020), Rickie Fowler (2019), Gary Woodland (2018), Hideki Matsuyama (2016, 2017)
    • Nine players in the field finished in the top 10 at last week’s Farmers Insurance Open: Pierceson Coody (T2), Si Woo Kim (T2), Ryo Hisatsune (T2), Jake Knapp (T5), Stephan Jaeger (T5), Sahith Theegala (T7), Andrew Novak (T7), Joel Dahmen (T7), Maverick McNealy (10th)
    • Five PGA TOUR members who are Scottsdale residents: Wyndham Clark, Max Homa, Jake Knapp, Matt McCarty, Joel Dahmen
  • 2023 U.S. Open winner Wyndham Clark will make his eighth career appearance in the WM Phoenix Open. Clark owns five made cuts and one top-10 finish (2023/T10) in seven prior starts at TPC Scottsdale.
  • In nine career starts in the WM Phoenix Open, Jordan Spieth has recorded six top-10 finishes. Over the last three years, Spieth has finished no worse than T6 (2023/T6, 2024/T6, 2025/T4).
  • Hideki Matsuyama is one of three players in the field with multiple WM Phoenix Open titles after winning back-to-back years in 2016 and 2017. The winningest Asian player in TOUR history (11 wins) seeks his first PGA TOUR win since the 2025 Sentry.
  • Only three players have finished inside the top 20 in each of the first three events of the 2026 season:
    • Pierceson Coody (T13/Sony Open in Hawaii, T18/The American Express, T2/Farmers Insurance Open)
    • Ryan Gerard (2nd/Sony Open in Hawaii, T2/The American Express, T11/Farmers Insurance Open)
    • Si Woo Kim (T11/Sony Open in Hawaii, T6/The American Express, T2/Farmers Insurance Open)
  • Thomas Avant, a local Arizona PGA Assistant Golf Professional at Lone Tree Golf Club, earned an exemption for the 2026 WM Phoenix Open as a section qualifier. Avant’s father, Greg, played in the WM Phoenix Open twice (2000/MC, 2002/MC).
