While many comment on Rory McIlroy’s sports award last night as capping his best-ever season there remains the strong posibility of a greater life-time honour awaiting the Grand Slam champion before this year is out.
As GolfByTourMiss has been reporting McIlroy stands a better chance of receiving an unchallenged King Charles 111 Knighthood than the doubt pressent prior to last night of a will he or won’t he be handed an annual TV sports award.
ARISE SIR RORY …

Looking back to last night and the scenes of McIlroy being rightly honoured by the BBC were truly amazing along with the sight of a highly emotional champion golfer.
As McIlroy gets older he is showing more-and-more of this emotional side to his make-up.
Not for a moment are we looking to be negative but it’s a side to the 36-year-old you just don’t see among the world’s top-ranked sports stars.
What truly heart-wrenching comments from a truly wonderful individual
Not just @bbcsport but the entire sports world can be rightfully proud of @McIlroyRory

We witnessed McIlroy in tears in April on the final green at Augusta National and he admitted he found it tough to keep his emotions in check after he claimed the Irish Open title in thrilling style at The K.Club.
There was tears also amid the victory celebrations when his European Ryder Cup team retained the Ryder Cup in the States.
And last night McIlroy visibly fought back tears as the golfing icon paid tribute to English fathers Sergio Aguiar and David Stancombe.
The two fathers completed the London Marathon in memory of their daughters, Alice da Silva Aguiar, Elsie Dot Stancombe and Bebe King, who lost their lives in the devastating attack at a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in Southport during July 2024.

The bereaved fathers are working to create enduring tributes to their daughters through initiatives including Elsie’s Story, Alice’s WonderDance and Bebe’s Hive. Both delivered heartfelt addresses upon receiving the 2025 Helen Rollason Award.
McIlroy was asked in receiving the top award if fatherhood has influenced his perspective on his accomplishments this year and with McIlroy struggling to keep his emotions in check, saying: “I think being a father of a little girl, seeing the dads up there tonight, they are absolute heroes.”
After a moment’s pause, he continued: “Being a dad, it makes the losses a lot easier. It makes the wins even more special to be able to share that with Erica [wife] and Poppy [daughter].
“My family, they’ve watched me go through all of this like I’m sure a lot of the public has. I feel like everyone’s been on this journey with me.”
Heartiest congratulations Rors. You’re a truly a wonderful golfer and superb individual.
