Exclusive …Trophy To Take Pride Of Place In Team Double D’s Family Home

Exclusive  …. David Drysdale and his caddying wife, Vicky, have a proud new edition in their hotel room for this week’s Vattanac Legends Championship -Legacy Edition at the Vattanac Golf Resort located to the east of the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.

The Legends Tour is teeing-up for a second week running at the Vattanac Golf Resort after the Vattanac Legends Championship held on the course last week and ‘Double D’, as he more affectionately known, ending a some 600 plus event winless drought in capturing the title.

This second Vattanac Legends Championship has added to it’s title … Legions Edition .. and was added to the Tour schedule following the cancellation of the Legends Championship Vietnam that was due to be held this week but has since been cancelled.

While the memories will be still fresh and maybe even more vivid for the Drysdale’s, the only change is that the 66-player field will be teeing-up on the resort’s West Course as opposed to last week’s host East course.

And along with golf bag, suitcases and cary bags there is a stunning-looking addition to the Team DDs luggage.

Drysdale said: “It’s an amazing-looking trophy and each time I look at it I still can’t beleive

“It’s just been an incredible few days as Vicky and I have received hundreds of messages for fellow pro’s, caddies, family and friends. It’s very overwhelming.”

Vicky, whose X account indicates ‘Wife, Caddie, Manager & Travel buddy to Double D’ revealed maybe a bit of woman’s intuition in her husband’s first success in more than 600 tournaments

She said: “I just had a feeling he was going to do it this week. He played great golf on Friday (round 2) & I knew he had found some confidence.

“He changed the shafts in his irons a couple of weeks ago, so I knew it was the right decision to make.

“I also was just trying to keep David focused and not let my emotions get in the way.

“Also on that last day, we had no idea of the scores until the 15th hole where there was a score board.

“I’m just so happy for DD.  He’s worked so hard to get this win. We both have.

“The trophy will take pride of place in our house.”

Dysdale will proudly play the opening round in the company of England’s Simon Griffiths and South Afrian Keith Horne.
