Red Hot Chilean Joaquin Niemann has been one of the hottest players this season winning five LIV santioned events.
As well, he arrived earlier this week into Riyadh as the PIF Saudi International reigning champion, so that’s six victories in some eight months since last November to July this year.
Unfortunately Niemann’s winning form hopelessly deserted him this week producing rounds of 72 and 69 for a one-under tally ending his stunning season one shot shy of the two-under cut-off mark and thus returning home earlier.

Niemann’s opening round was somewhat a surprise posting a second hole double-bogey ‘7’ and while he bounced back with a third hole birdie ‘3’ he proceeded to post 15 pars in a score of one over.
Day two dawned with Niemann off the 10th tee and making the ‘turn’ at one-under thanks to three birdies and a pair of bogeys. He birdied his 10th and 11th holes to move back to two-under ahead of a bogey at the fifth or his 14th ahead of four closing pars in his 69.
Disappointinly for Niemann and also event organisers it was one shy of playing all four days.
Others missing the cut include former double Saudi winning Dustin Johnson along with his Masters winning colleague, Sergio Garcia.
Also bound for the airport early was Aussie Cam Smith, who had lost out to Nieumann in last year’s play-off.
While there is a ‘no cut’ policy on the LIV Tour, this is this week and Niemann teeing-up having contested seven Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) this past year and missing the cut in three while now missing this week’s Asian Tour sanctioned event it makes that six pay cheques from eight counting events for the current World No. 116th ranked golfer.
In fact, Niemann was ranked 74th in the world in winning a year ago in Riyadh.
