EXCLUSIVE ….. JT Says He’s ‘Comfortable’ Taking Trip To Augusta National

Justin Thomas says he’s comfortably looking forward to heading to next tournament at The Masters after three of his strangest tournaments in his recent career.

Thomas had been cleared in early February by doctors to resume all golf activity and plans to return to the PGA Tour once he builds up his strength and stamina.

The double major champions, underwent a microdisectomy on his back at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York in mid-November to correct a disc problem that was causing nagging hip pain for a few months.

Much to the enjoyment of golf fans the world over he ended a near six month absence since last year’s Ryder Cup in announcing he would return at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

‘JT’ did so though a pair of 79s to easily sit out the weekend rounds was very much a shock for Thomas but all those who love the game.

“Yeah, it was kind of hard to say it was good to be back out“, he said at Bay Hill. “Yeah, not obviously how I expected it to go. But the rust aspect kind of unfortunately was a little bit of what I anticipated. Yeah, just it is what it is“.

‘JT’ headed north to Ponte Vedra and produced the golf we’re more used to as evident, kick-starting his apperarance at Tour HQ with a pair of 68s, eleven shots fewer than his only two days at Arnie’s event.

Thomas played the four days at eight-under to superbly share eighth place.

And now after a full four days at the Valspar Championship, and scores of 72, 69, 73 and a closing 68 for a then clubhouse tally of two under, the 32-year-old is ready to take the next two weeks off before venuturing to a golf course in the south-east corner of the state of Georgia.

“I have to say that I have come ahead in leaps and bounds since teeing-up a few weeks ago at the Arnold Palmer,“ he said to GolfByTourMiss.

“It was more about getting over all the rust and getting myself back competitive. It did make Bay Hill incredibly hard so it as not an easy tournament to make my return. It’s not a perfect world where you can choose where you want to play but you have to start somewhere.

“Finishing up now here at the Valspar, I do feel I am in a much better place. Mentally, I am I feel comfortable with my game going into Augusta

“That was a  big goal of mine, so looking forward to continuing to work on my game and also taking that trip early April to Augusta National“.
