Top ranked Scot Robert MacIntyre has confirmed his appearance in next week’s $9.1m Valspar Championship at Palm Harbor near Naples on the Florida west coast.
MacIntyre had been speaking with this journalist last week but he was unsure if he would contest the event on the famed Copperhead course and as part of his pre-Masters preparations.
However when the PGA Tour released deteails of the full Valspar field at 5pm Friday (local time Florida), the Oban lefties name appeared on the list of contestants.

And in a first in his short PGA Tour career, the current World No. 8 is the highest ranked played in the field. Indeed, he and the current World No. 10 Xander Schauffele are the only two players teeing-up inside the world’s top-10.
“I was 50/50 last week if I would play the Valspar or not but then I’ve decided to tee-up, and looking forward to the tournament“, said MacIntyre.
“I’ve played the tournament once before, so it’s a course I know well and suits my game“.
In fact, Intryre shared 33rd place on his Valspar debut in 2o24.
MacIntyre posted a second straight Players Championship level par 72 to be sharing 42nd place, a dozen shots behind fellow double Ryder Cup victorious team-mate Ludwig Aberg, who heads the $25m event by two shots at 12-under.
With confirmation of MacIntye in the Valspar field his schedule in the countdown to The Masters is:
March 19-22 Valspar Championship, Innisbrook Resort, Palm Harbor, Florida
March 26 – 29 Week off
April 2 – 5 Valero Texas Open, TPC San Antonio, TX
April 5 (Early Sunday evening) – Board charter flight direct from San Antonio Airport to Augusta Airport
April 9 – 12 The Masters, Augusta National, Augusta, GA
And as he has done in the past, MacIntyre has committed to the RBC Heritage at Hilton Head in South Carolina in the week following the year’s first major.
