MacItyre was not alone last week, never really getting going in the $20m event interrupted by rain and fog delays and won by fellow lefty and new World No. 19 Askhay Bhatia.
If seemed like each time MacIntyre was making a move, he found himself back-pedalling, and for player of MacIntyre’s enormous talent that can be so frustrating, and this was no more evident on Sunday in picking-up two early birdies but then dropping a shot on eight. He birdied the 10th to get to two-under but it then posted eight straight pars and in the event a year ago MacIntyre ended superbly at T11th.
MacIntyre left Bay Hill for the three-mile drive to his Isleworth Estate abode and his partner Shannon and three-week old son Findlay before heading north to Ponte Vedre and this week’s Tour Championship.
He said: “It’s been a frustrating week. There was still a lot of good out there but the birdie putts just didn’t drop over the back nine. Though we all know this game can change in a heartbeat.
“I’ve now got another big tournament this week ahead of Augusta which now getting closer with every week.
“The Masters is very much on my mind as I’ve played a couple of tournaments where I have adjusted clubs to try and do well in all the majors this season.
“So, much to look forward to and yes, excited to do well in these few weeks”.
The reinging Alfred Dunhill Links champion revealed his schedule leading-up to The Masters is this week’ Players Championship, uncertain for the following week’s Valspar Championship but confirmed to be teeing-up in the following week’s the Valero Texas Open at Fort Worth the week prior to the Masters.
