Exclusive: McIlroy Declares He’s ‘Taken Advantage’ Of His Masters Victory Year.

It is a couple of days shy of a month before Rory McIlroy’s proud reign as Masters Champion will end and, as such, he will under August National Golf Club rules only be allowed to  wear the famed Green Jacket within the clubhouse and grounds of Augusta National.

In the past near twelve months McIlroy has endeared himself to sports fans around the globe sporting his own 38 regular Augusta National Green Jacet.

He’s worn his Green Jacket during a “victory tour” to various locations, including India, Dubai and Australia.

He wore the jacket to the annual Association of Golf Writers Association (AGW) annual dinner at Royal Portrush Open Championship where he received the Golfer of the Year award for a record sixth occasion.

There were the wonderful scenes last October when McIlroy visited the Giants Causeway, the famed Northern Ireland rocks feature in very close proximity to Royal Portrush.

Last November he was wearing the Green Jacket in Dubai, meeting Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE.

And he also had the Green Jacket with him in competing and winning he Amgen Irish Open at the K. Club, and back in July McIlroy was spotted during a yachting trip to Saint-Tropez in France.

One of his last Green Jacket sightings was last December during the staging of the Australian Open in Melbourne and Rors wearing the jacket to the pre-touranment gala dinner.

GolfByTourMiss spoke exclusively with Rors post his second round here at Bay Hill to ask where else is he considering wearing his own Green Jacket ahead of being restricted to Augusta National.

“No, there’s no place not really”, said McIlroy after posting a four-under 68 to work his way back into the $20m tournament.

“I’ve taken advantage of my year and I’ve worn the jacket to where I wanted to.  So, I’m very happy with that while the reception has been amazing and has given me so many happy memories”.

Of course, it’s not to say McIlroy will not get to wear the famed green jacket every again as his victory a year ago afforded him Life Membership of Augusta National so he can now wear the jacket all he likes about the famed Georgia clubhouse and grounds.

And should who’s to say McIlroy cannot capture a second Green Jacket or a third that would to more around-the-world visits.
