Patrick Reed is currently unchallenged as the hottest golfer on the planet, winning for a secomd time in three events as Scot Calum Hill stormed his way to a second-place result in as many weeks at the Qatar Masters.
Despite the early loss of a two shot overnight lead, Reed displayed his enormous class regrouping in posting a closing day 70 to win by two shots at 16-under on the host Doha course.
Reed’s 13th pro career win and a fifth on the DP World Tour comes a fortnight after capturing the Hero Dubai Desert Classic and while the Texan loss out in a play-off at last week’s Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship he heads home to his beloved Texas a winner in Qatar.

“This is a great little run I’ve had, two wins and a second, it’s awesome”, said a clearly excited Reed.
“We couldn’t ask anything more than what we did.
“It’s special, to come out here especially to get two wins early on in the season, and hopefully there’s a lot more to come.”
For a second day running, Reed looked a little shaky at first afer two early bogeys but he regrouped to get back to two shots in front thanks to birdies at 10, 11 and 14.
“It wasn’t looking very good there on the front nine,” Reed admitted afterwards. “To lose the lead like that and then to be able to kind of flip the switch there on the back nine obviously felt amazing.
“I just needed a putt to go in. I mean, I had 18 putts on the front nine, yesterday I had 33 putts, so I felt like I was hitting the ball fine.
“I felt like right when we made the turn – you know, we were chasing at that point – I just decided to go for it and trust in the putter and trust in the process, and we were able to kind of get it done.”
Reed’s win in the 29th hosting of the Qatar Masters is a first by American while he moved to No. 1 on the DP World Tour rankings and very much on track, even that this early stage of the year, in securing 2027 PGA Tour membership.
As well, he will jump from his current 25th OWGR ranking to inside the top-2o and the first occasion since the 2020 Tour Championship.
Hill was easily the best of the Scots superbly regrouping from a fourth hole double bogey to eagle the 10th and then birdied four of his closing five holes in a 67 for a 14-under tally.
The Crook of Devon player’s effort is a huge boost after letting slip victory in last week’s Bahrain Championship.
Hill said: “Golf feels good at the minute. It was nice to have a really good week last week, I put myself in a really good position, didn’t manage to cross the line with the trophy but I feel like I did a lot of things well and if you put me in that position again I feel like I could convert from there.
“Today it was a different story, it was a big chase, you’re trying to get as much on the field as you can and then hopefully Patrick didn’t go too far away”,
Next up for Hill is a short break ahead of returning to South Africa for a series of events including his March 5th commencing Joburg Open defence.
Grant Forrest posted a 70 for a nine-under tally to share 15th while Ewen Ferguson and Cameron Adam 73s for a respective seven-under and tied 25th while Adam four-under and tied 46th.
