Reed Aglow As He Tees-Up First Time In The Rainbow Nation

Patrick Reed is aglow ahead of teeing-up for a first time in his career in the Rainbow nation.

The recent two-time DP World Tour winning Texan has added the 115th hosting of the Investec South African Open to his season schedule while also advising he’ll be also contesting next week’s Joburg Open title in Johannesburg.

This week marks his fifth Tour event of 2026 and also teeing-up in a fourth different country for the 35-year-old former LIV golfer.

Reed’s record reads – 26th Dubai Invitational, 1st Hero Dubai Desert Classic, T2nd Bapco Energies Bahrain Championship and then becoming the first American to win the Qatar Masters.

He’s also the current Race to Dubai front-runner, so the 2018 Masters winner naturally has his sights set on adding the second oldest national open to his already 13 pro event winning career in five different countries.

“It’s been amazing. First time in South Africa and it’s been nothing but a pleasure,” he said.

“Knowing the tradition and history of the golf tournament, I have talked to a lot of the boys from South Africa and it’s exciting to come over and play with those guys.

And in talking of South African Open winners, Rainbow Nation-born golfers have won the last seven editions of the country’s premier men’s golf tournament.

“You have got to hit good quality tee shots, put yourself in play so you can attack this place. If you’re not playing from the fairway, it’s going to be a struggle.

“It’s one of those places that gets your full attention from start to finish. I like that about a golf course”.
