MENA Tour Gets Big Boost With Two Significant Appointments

The MENA Golf Tour has announced two significant appointments as the Tour continues to strengthen its position as the premier development pathway for professional golfers in the region.

General Abdullah Al Hashmi, President of the Emirates Golf Federation and newly appointed Vice Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), joins the Board of Directors alongside Chairman and Commissioner Keith Waters and principal investor Donna Benton, while Mark Bull has been named Tournament Director.

General Abdullah Al Hashmi is one of the most influential figures in Middle Eastern and Asian golf. A former fighter pilot in the UAE Air Force, he has been instrumental in elevating the UAE’s position in the global golf landscape, bringing major championships including the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship and the World Amateur Team Championships to the region. His recent appointment as Vice Chairman of the APGC further amplifies his standing within the international golf community.

“I am honoured to join the Board of the MENA Golf Tour at such an exciting time for golf in our region,” said General Abdullah Al Hashmi. “This Tour represents a vital pathway for talented golfers across the Middle East and beyond, and I look forward to working alongside Keith, Donna and our fellow Board members to further elevate its status on the global stage. My experience with the Emirates Golf Federation and now the APGC has shown me the tremendous potential we have to develop champions from this part of the world.”

Mark Bull brings more than 18 years of golf, hospitality and leisure industry leadership to his role as Tournament Director. Based in Dubai, his career spans iconic golf destinations and globally recognised brands, including senior roles at Celtic Manor Resort and Jumeirah Golf Estates, where he contributed to the DP World Tour Championship. Most recently, he served as General Manager of 59club Middle East & Africa, where he launched the regional office and secured partnerships with high-profile brands including Dubai Holding Group, Jumeirah International and Emaar Hospitality.

“Golf in the Middle East is thriving, and I’m delighted to be joining the MENA Golf Tour as we enter a new era,” said Bull. “Talent development, tournament pathways and the growth of domestic players are more important than ever. The MENA Golf Tour has an opportunity to become a global platform for emerging professionals, and I’m excited to contribute to delivering events that meet and exceed international expectations for our players and stakeholders.”

MENA Golf Tour Chairman and Commissioner Keith Waters said: “We are thrilled to welcome General Abdullah to the Board and Mark as our Tournament Director. General Abdullah’s leadership of the Emirates Golf Federation and his role with the APGC bring invaluable connections and insight into golf development across the region and throughout Asia-Pacific. Mark’s extensive experience in tournament operations and his track record of excellence will be instrumental in delivering world-class events. These appointments significantly strengthen our ability to deliver on our ambitions for the MENA Golf Tour.”

The appointments come as the MENA Golf Tour prepares for its Egypt Golf Series, a four-event swing offering $400,000 in total prize money and crucial Official World Golf Ranking points. The series kicks off at New Giza Golf Club on January 19th.

The MENA Golf Tour, the only Official World Golf Ranking-recognised circuit headquartered in the Middle East, offers $100,000 in prize money per event across its 12-tournament season. The Tour provides a crucial development pathway for professional golfers, with alumni including DP World Tour winners Robert MacIntyre and Thriston Lawrence.
