ADDABBO TAKES CONTROL AT EGYPT GOLF SERIES NEW GIZA
Italian fires 66 to lead by one heading into final round
Cairo, Egypt – 20 January 2026: Italy’s Ludovico Addabbo carded a six-under-par 66 to take a one-shot lead into the final round of the maiden Egypt Golf Series New Giza at the New Giza Golf Club in Cairo.
The 27-year-old, who won the PGA Aroeira Challenge wire-to-wire in November for his first professional victory, moved to ten under par overall as he bids to close the gap on MENA Golf Tour Rankings leader Chris Wood.
Starting on the back nine, Addabbo reeled off four birdies in a row from 12, picking up a further shot at 17 to turn in 31 before navigating trickier conditions on his inward half as the wind picked up.

“I got off to a really flying start after teeing off on the 10th,” said Addabbo. “My game is in great shape, so it was a really nice way to start the round. Over the last few months, I’ve started to enjoy golf in a different way. I always used to push and force things, trying to make something happen. Now I’m just playing, going out there trying to have fun.
“If I can lift my second trophy tomorrow, it would mean a lot. It would answer a lot of questions I’ve had over the last few years.”
First-round leader Zan Luka Stirn of Slovenia and Malaysia’s Galven Kendall Green share second place at nine under par. Stirn added a one-under 71 to his opening 64, while Green followed his first-round 66 with a 69.
“It was a very different round to yesterday and definitely more challenging out there,” said Stirn. “The conditions were tougher with a lot more wind, and a few of the front-nine holes played really hard into it, which made them feel much longer and that’s where I picked up a couple of bogeys. But I fought back well on the back nine, made three birdies and finished birdie-birdie, so I’m really happy with how I played again.”
Ireland’s Alex Maguire produced the joint round of the day, a six-under 66 matching Addabbo’s effort to vault into a share of fourth place at eight under alongside Italy’s Aron Zemmer and England’s Charlie Crockett.
Wales’ Owen Edwards sits alone in seventh at seven under, with Spain’s Haiko Dana and England’s Curtis Knipes a further shot back in a tie for eighth.
Egyptian amateur Issa Abou El Ela remains the best-placed home player at one under par after rounds of 71-72, sitting in a share of 23rd place heading into the final day.
The Egypt Golf Series New Giza is the first of four consecutive MENA Golf Tour events in Egypt, offering a combined USD $400,000 in prize money and Official World Golf Ranking points.
