David Drysdale is back home in chilly Scotland warming to the company of a ‘first’ in his home for many a year.
Drysdale last November ended a 19-year winless drought proudly teaming with caddying wife, Vicky, to brilliantly capture the Vattanac Legends Championship in Cambodia.
The win was the affable Scot’s first in his rookie over-50 Legends Tour season but also a first since 2006 when he captured a second of two then Challenge Tour named events ahead of an amazing effort of 576 DP World Tour events from 2002 up to and including 2023.
The Drysdale’s remained in Cambodia post his win for the final event of the Legends Tour season, along with contesting a pair of pro-ams ahead of travelling to South Africa to visit friends in Joburg and Cape Town, then spending the Christmas period enjoying the spectacular sights and sounds of Kruger National Park.

They arrived home to wintery Scotland warming to celebrating the arrival of the New Year with family and friends, with everyone eager to welcome their newest family member – a keepsake replica of Vattana Legends winning trophy.
Drysdale said: “It’s good being back home in Scotland, catching up with family and friends, and just relaxing.
“The trophy is proudly on show and each time I look at it, I think back how good I played that week. I hit some good shots down the stretch, including that great shot down the 18th.
“You want to win every week you tee-up and it was just so good to get the victory on my first year on the Legends Tour, as you have this four to five years window, and being out there like a youngster on the over-50s tour when you could be able to do really well.
“The Legends Tour is a really fun tour to play on but come Sunday, I’ve found it becomes so competitive as guys just want to beat you.
“There are some good players out there and also some ridiculously good scoring. It’s just an unbelievable standard.
“We now have a few weeks off before the first event of the new season, the second week of February down in Marbella”.
Drysdale officially ended his maiden Legends Tour season an impressive 10th on the money-list, an effort that secured him entry into three of the five 2026 Senior majors – Senior PGA Championship, Senior US Open and July’s Senior Open at Gleneagles.
He said: “It was so good to finish 10th on the order of merit, as it has opened the doors into the senior majors while I’ve also qualified for the inaugural US Champions Tour event at Vilamoura in Portugal, in July.
“The good thing is that these majors on the Champions Tour events are on proper golf courses, proper set-ups and they’ll present great opportunities, so I’m very much looking forward to them.
“We are just so lucky, at age 50 that you can continue to play the sport you love and you can make a living at it, playing well.
“So, very much looking forward to the year ahead and making the most of the opportunities being presented.”
