And while Forrest had missed the Abu Dhabi cut the Craigielaw golfer was at the course ready to celebrate Jamieson’s win.

Forrest said: “I haven’t seen Scott since Sunday but we were all rooting for him, as you would for a friend and fellow countryman.

“He’s one of the nicest guys on the Tour and it was a tough last day for him, and with so many big names chasing him.

“Scott’s been out here a long longer than I have and, like all of us in a similar situation, I am sure he will learn a lot from what unfolded yesterday.  Hopefully, he will take the great form he showed over three days last week into this week and come out on top”.

Forrest, and attached to the Craigielaw Club in East Lothian, was speaking at a pre-Slynic.io Dubai Desert Classic function where he joined some of the greats in Europe, including Danny Willett, Charles Schwartzel, Rafa Cabrera-Bello, Henrik Stenson, and defending Dubai champ, Paul Casey in the ‘JA Lake View Rooftop Challenge.

The ‘Challenge’ involved hitting golf balls off an artificial tee on the open-air rooftop of the Jebal Ali Lake View hotel a targeted area well below to the second hole at the Jebal Ali 9-hole course that the hotel overlooks.

In the eight-man event, Forrest was immediately knocked-out in the four shots to the target well below by Casey, who went onto the win the eight-man challenge ahead of his defense some 20-min drive down the road at the famed Emirates Club.

All eight players got behind the bar, and all social distance to test their skills mixing water melon-based cocktails, with Willett adjudged the best by one of the hotel’s leading barmen.

Forrest said:  “It’s pretty cool to be chosen to join some of the big-names on the Tour in the contest.

“My chosen cocktail was mixing Basel with the water-melon base and adding a whole range of ingredients they had lined up for each of us. I called it a’ Forrest Martini’ and was pretty proud of myself.  Though well down to Danny in winning and well done to the organizers as it was a fun evening”.
