Wilmington, NC …
Russell Knox returned triumphantly to Connecticut eTight months on to hole exactly the same putt that won him the Travelers Championship.
Knox hosted a media outing Tuesday at PC River Highlands and where the Scot claimed his second PGA Tour victory in dramatic manner.
Knox saved par from a greenside bunker in holing a 12-foot putt on the final hole to beat hometown favourite Jerry Kelly by a stroke and hours after Jim Furyk shot the first 58 in PGA Tour history.
Knox celebrated the win throwing his cap well into the air and wildly fist-pumping.
However, eight months on there was no screaming crowd, no grandstands were in place nor was there the same pressure for Knox.

But with just a few dozen local media and TV crews looking on the Scot didn’t disappoint. .
“Take a deep breath,” he said walking up to the ball. “All these people here. One putt away from being a champion.
“Then I remember at the time I stood over the putt saying to myself “Just trust it”. I think I had a couple of practice strokes and I just kept telling myself “You are going to make this”.
Knox again made the curling putt and just as hid did last August he threw his cap way into the air and proudly stood on the green again with his legs apart and boldly fist-pumping both arms and much to enormous delight of the dozen or so looking on”.
“That is an easy putt,” said Knox smiling.
Knox has taken this week off and electing not to contest the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina.
Instead, he intends working on his game head of teeing up next week in the Players Championship and just a short drive from his Jacksonville Beach residence in Florida.
And while Knox relieved one of his more illustrious moments in Connecticut he will be not need reminding of what unfolded a year ago at TPC Sawgrass when he took a “9” in hitting three ball into the water at the famed par three, 17th island hole on day three a year ago.
