Pat Perez Panned Over Damming Tiger Woods Comments

Palm Beach Gardens, FL …

Fellow American Pat Perez has been panned on social media following his damning verdict on Tiger Woods’ current situation, claiming the former World No. 1 ‘knows he cannot beat anybody anymore’.

Perez bizarrely attacked theĀ 14-time major winner by questioning Woods’ motivation to continue playing, suggesting it could be to keep his name relevant for brand and sponsorship purposes.

“He knows he cannot beat anybody,” said Perez in an interview post his first round of the Honda Classic. “He’s got this new corporation he started so he has to keep his name relevant to keep the corporation going.

“But the bottom line is he knows he cannot beat anybody. He knows it. He shot 77! That guy cannot shoot 77. What does he do the next day? “Ah my back’s gone”. He knows he cannot beat anybody!’

Woods, who is second on the all-time list for both PGA Tour and major wins, was attacked by Perez after pulling out of the Genesis Open last week as well as this week’s Honda Classic.

And Perez, who has just tournament wins since gaining his PGA Tour card in 2002, also believes if Woods does not play The Masters then his season is in serious jeopardy.

“Personally, I don’t think you’ll see him again this year,” Perez added. “The guy cannot show up to an interview!’

After round one of the Honda Classic, which is being played in Florida, Perez stood by his comments about the 41-year-old, but added he would love to see him make a strong return to the PGA Tour.

“I had an opinion on Tiger, and I said it,” he told ESPN. “No one wants to see Tiger come back, compete, and win again more than me.

“I was the one saying that none of these guys out here today can hold a candle to what Tiger has done or still does.

“But we’re talking about when is Tiger gonna play again? I don’t know. If the guy cannot do a press conference, how’s he gonna play golf?”
