Knox Ends Season Avoiding Being Left Red-Faced & Short-Changed.

Naples, Florida …

Russell Knox ended his season avoiding being left red-faced and also short-changed on the final day of the Franklin Templeton (Shark) Shootout in Florida.

Knox went onto Twitter before the third and last round betting match opponent Lexi Thompson $US5 if he drove it past the 21-year old Women’s World No. 5 on the host Triburon course in Naples.

Hey $5 if I drive it past you today?????!!!!!!

The Scot’s pride and cash was safe despite Knox and team-mate, Luke Donald combining in the ‘better ball’ format to add just four shots in a 68 and finish at 17-under par in the Greg Norman hosted event.

Thomspon, and the only woman in the 24-player field, teamed with former US Amateur champion, Bryson DeChambeau to shoot a 67 and end at 16-under par

Knox said:  “My money is safe and I was proud of my efforts though there was a couple of times I thought it was pretty close.

“In saying that Lexi hits the ball great and she and Bryson were  great company.

“But I kind of hit the wall today as it’s been a long season and I’m feeling very tired and that was mirrored in my play today as I was hopeless.

“So it was a shame Luke and I couldn’t finish it off especially after our great start on Thursday but as for now I’m looking forward to getting home and putting my feet up for a few weeks.”

Knox confirmed his 2017 season will commence on January 5th at the Tournament of Champions in Hawaii, and his reward in capturing this year’s Travellers Championship.
