Jordan Spieth Insists He’s Not Going To Kick Hotel Room Door After Dull Valspar Start.

World No. 1 Jordan Spieth insisted he would resist kicking the hotel room door after his indifferent season continued with an opening round 76 at the Valspar Championship at Palm Harbor, Florida.

Spieth’s round included one birdie but also six bogeys, including four in his first five holes on the Copperhead course that left him lying nine shots behind the leading clubhouse duo of Ken Duke and Keegan Bradley.

“What good does kicking the hotel room door do other than possibly injuring my foot and then having to withdraw injured but then I will be fine, and I put it down to one of those days and fortunately they don’t happen very often,” he said.

“It was tough out there but it wasn’t a good round and I just got off to a poor start, and found myself behind the eight ball.

“I had been feeling good about my game and probably should have shot five under in the pro-am.

“Typically on my off days in the past I am able to keep it around par but recently I am just shooting too higher a number.”

In fact, and with a month to the start of his Masters defence, it is the second time in nine rounds Spieth has imploded after posting a 79 on day one of the last month’s Northern Trust Open.
