Brett Rumford Pulls Off European Tour ‘Shot Of The Month – February 2016’.

His name has been mentioned in consecutive weeks in the winner’s press conference by double Tour winning and fellow Australian Adam Scott.

Now Brett Rumford is headline news having won the European Tour’s ‘Shot of the Month – February 2016’.

The reigning Western Australian PGA champion has missed three months of action last year due to a bizarre injury caused simply by eating an apple but the Royal Perth attached golfer has made that included his  magnificent bunker shot in his home town at the ISPS HANDA Perth International.

Rumford was tied for the lead heading into Saturday’s third round in Perth but found himself well off the pace as he arrived at the 14th hole four over par for the day. After finding the greenside bunker at the short par four, Rumford faced a difficult shot with very little green to play with. Using a little local knowledge, the 38 year old holed out for eagle.

He would go on to eagle the following hole, almost securing an albratros, to jump back into contention and eventually finish inside the top seven on his second straight start.

“It was a random day,” said Rumford after his round. “That’s golf for you, that’s why we love it.”

The Australian’s shot beat off competition from Henrik Stenson, George Coetzee, Peter Uihlein and Toby Tree to win the February award.
