Russell Knox heads into a first WGC event of the New Yea later next week at Trump Doral in Miami but still waiting for a replacement WGC – HSBC Champions trophy after organisers misspelt his surname.
The Scot broke through last October winning a maiden Tour title in Shanghai but when the half-size replica of the Old Tom Morris trophy arrived at his Jacksonville home his name had been spelt ‘KNOW’.
“I couldn’t believe it when the replica arrived and here’s my name spelt wrong but then they have assured it will be corrected and I’ll get a replacement,” said Knox.

Russell Knox reveals a Shanghai surprise with a replica of the Old Tom Morris trophy arriving with his name spelt – KNOW.
However before heading the some 75-minute drive south down I-95 to Trump Doral and Thursday’s starting WGC – Cadillac Championship, Knox will be hoping for a low final round in the Honda Classic.
The top world-ranked Scot posted a third round 71 to be inside the top-25 at one over par and 10 adrift of the leading duo of Adam Scott and Sergio Garcia but again holding back Knox was 31 putts for a third day running on the PGA National course.
I played all right but then my putting has been off for some time now,” he said.
“I am hitting good putts that go in but there are far too many bad putts in my rounds and it’s demoralising.
“I am trying not to let it annoy me too much and the good thing every other part of my game is good and not far off as good as I was playing out in Shanghai and also Mexico the week after.
“But then with a round to play before my first WGC next week in Miami since winning the last WGC out in China, it would be good to finish here at the Honda a couple under par, so that’s the big goal now.
“The good aspect also is that Shanghai was my debut WGC and the WGC at Trump Doral will be the first time I’ve also played that event.”
