Ireland’s Shane Lowry was asked in holing a birdie putt at the 15th, and the first hole of the ‘Bear Trap’ who he was waving to moments after sinking the four-footer.
It turns out that as the reigning WGC – Bridgestone Invitational champion made his way onto the green after playing such a superb 6-iron tee shot, a punter mentioned to him: “I have a buck on you holing that putt, okay?”
Lowry then takes up the story.
“It was one of the best tee shots I’ve hit in a while,” he said.
“But then there was these guys walking up the side of the hole and one of them said they had a dollar on me to hold the putt. He said he would give he 50 cents and half of the bet if I made it so I may go back out and find him (smiling).
Shane Lowry has played the treacherous 15th in 2 under this week.
