Marc Warren Intent On ‘Beach Party’ Approach To Season Finale.

Marc Warren intends to adopt a similar t-shirt and flip flop laid back approach to this week’s season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Warren looked very casual at Tuesday night’s now annual ‘Beach Party’ held on the beach front at the stunning Atlantis Hotel complex.

And with the continuing pressure of striving to break into the world’s top-50 by year’s end, Warren is keen not to exert any undue pressure ahead of the $8m Jumeriah Estates showdown.

The Scot is currently ranked 28th on the Race to Dubai and just two spots shy of a European Tour best of 26th a year ago.

However Warren’s dropped to 66th on the World Rankings and will need to be inside the top-50 by December 31st if the 34-year old is to make a maiden Masters appearance.

He said: “The beach party was a pretty relaxing night and a nice way to start the week but then you have to treat this week like any other tournament.

“I’ve played here three times in the past to know it’s nothing out of the ordinary, and it’s also a golf course I really enjoy playing and if you don’t enjoy this week you’re in the wrong business.

“Also when we come out to this part of the world at the start of each year, the big goal is always to be here competing at the end of the year.

“And if I was to win this week or do very well, and that is always the goal, then there’s massive Race to Dubai and World Ranking points on offer so it’s a great opportunity to end my season on a big note.”

Joining Warren in Dubai is coach Alan McCloskey and also looking to help his pupil rebound recent results of 73rd in Turkey along with 76th and placed 37th in the recent two Shanghai events.

He said:  “Having Alan here is going to be a real benefit as he walked with me in Tuesday’s Pro-Am and we then had a few good hours on the range.

“I feel as though I’ve made some strides forward and I’m where I want to be, so it should come as second nature when I step onto the first tee.”

Warren is among three Scots in the field including Richie Ramsay lying 57th on the Race to Dubai and Stephen Gallacher who is four spots higher at 61st.
