Scotland’s top-ranked Scot Martin Warren has returned to competition after a month’s break determined to end his year receiving a standard white envelope bearing a Masters logo and postmarked – Augusta, GA.
Warren has played competitively since finishing mid-field in the defence of his Made In Denmark title.
But then the current World No. 56 hasn’t been idle enjoying time with his young family but also playing social games at Loch Lomond and Western Gailes.
Warren also is lying 16th on the Race to Dubai and clearly headed for his best finish in a decade on the Tour after a career money high of 26th a year ago.
“It’s been good to have the the first two weeks off without touching a club but then for the past fortnight I’ve got myself back into competition mode playing with friends which was good,” he said.
“But this week’s European Open is the start of what I

am hoping is a big finish to my year.
“Of course, foremost is another Tour victory but then I want to try and get my name on the leader board on a Sunday afternoon as much as possible.
“I am playing four events in a row, including next week’s Dunhill Links, a week off and then the four Final Four Series events before ending the season with the Nedbank Challenge the first week of December that technically is the first Tour event for 2016.
“So that’s nine events in 11 weeks and every event from no on to the end of my year is massive, and that’s the reason for taking a month off to rest up and be ready especially for the Final Four events as they are massive in terms of World Ranking points.
“And a big goal is to get myself back inside the top-50 and really cement my place so that next season I will be have the guarantee of playing the four Majors including the Masters.
“So if all goes well I should be receiving that envelope late December from Augusta inviting me to contest the Masters.
“That makes this time of year really exciting given so much is at stake and I’m just thrilled to be in such a position.”
Warren will play the opening two rounds of the Euro 2m event at Bad Gleisbach, and the largest goplf complex on on continental Europe with six golf courses, alongside Graeme McDowell and new Italian Open winner Rikard Karberg of Sweden.
However Karberg, who beat Martin Kaymer in a play-off last Sunday at Monza, has been fined £2,000 of his $181,054 first prize cheque for slow play during the opening round.
