Tiger Woods – ‘Contesting First Wyndham C’ship Like Competing In Australia’.

Tiger Woods will tee up in his first Wyndham Championship on a golf course in Greensboro that could very much be in Australia or Japan.

Why?

Because in the 27 holes Woods has played on the Sedgefield the 14-time Major Champion chose to use 2-iron off many of the tees.

And there was one scenario at the uphill par four 17th hole where Woods pro-am partner, Chris Park and who plays in the NBL for the L.A. Clippers, was so impressed with Woods’ 2-iron  shot he used the same club and after also finding the fairway he remarked:  “You have to sell me this 2-iron, man.  C’mon man, you have to let me have this 2-iron.”

Woods was quizzed after the pro-am how would he adjust to this week’s ‘classic, old school’ as Luke Donald described it.

“There is lot of tee shots I will use 2-iron,” said Woods.

“I used my 2-iron a lot when I go to Australia and Japan.  Those are the type of golf courses that fit, or British Open type courses.

“We don’t play hardly any golf courses anymore in the States for me, anymore, that I can use my 2-iron.

“So this week is one of those golf courses.”

And Woods is speaking from a winner’s point of view given he used his 2-iron to claim victory in the 2009 Australian Masters around the famed Kingston Heath course in Melbourne’s Sandbelt region.
