History Seems To Favour Tiger Woods Winning Wyndham Championship.

History would seem to be on the side of Tiger Woods capturing victory in his first appearance in the Wyndham Championship here in Greensboro.

He heads to the third round of the $US 5.4m event sharing the lead at 11-under par with rookie PGA Tour compatriot Tom Hoge.

However consider the following:-

* Woods has now held or shared the 36-hole lead on 48 occasions and has gone on to capture victory in 37 of the 47 tournaments with the last being 2013 WGC – Bridgestone Invitational and also his last success.

* Woods is in search of his 80th PGA Tour victory and was in 1960 the late, great Sam Snead captured his 80th Tour title in winning the 1960 Wyndham Championship and then known as the Greater Greensboro Open.

* Only six players have won the event on their first appearance – Bud Allin (1971), Seve Ballesteros (1978), Bob Goalby (1958), Stan Leonard (1957), Frank Nobilo (1997), Sam Snead (1938) and Brandt Snedeker (2007).

Sam Snead captured his 80th PGA Tour title winning the 1960 Greater Greensboro Open - Can Tiger also win his 80th Tour title here also in Greensboro?
